Celebrations Galore!

HIYA!

I feel like I’ve written to you after ages. Even checked the last time when I actually wrote something for the blog. Turns out it was back in early August. Sheesh! *Cue major guilt pangs.*

Okay, on to more interesting things.

Firstly, let’s pop that champagne. I reached the milestone of 500 followers. A shoutout to Mariwritings for being my 500th reader. Humbled and honoured at the love!  Shall be actively returning some of that now that my novel is nearing completion.  Continue reading “Celebrations Galore!”

Thank You

Yup, it’s that time again when I count my blessings and express gratitude to you, my Dear Readers.

The WordPress blog is now 400+ Followers strong and the Facebook Page has over a 100 Likes.

I am delirious with happiness and am dancing like there’s no tomorrow. Please do join in as this achievement is because of you – your comments, likes, feedback, criticisms and of course, most importantly your encouragement and support.

So  THANK YOU!

valentines-36443_640.png

This Valentine’s Day is special to me. Nope, not because I’ve found Mr. Right. No such luck, so far!

But because I have found you. Yes, Dear Reader. YOU!

The below poem is dedicated to each and every one of you. Continue reading “Happy Valentine’s Day!”

I would like to thank God, my parents, Jadoo, my readers, Blogger’s World, Blogging U., my writing desk (it’s brand new, by the way), my laptop (old but as good as new), my fingers, my coffee mug, my phone (it’s broken! someone gift me a new one), my diary, my floor lamp, my hair dresser, my manicurist, my gardener…… (starts dancing again)

Awards, Thank You and More…!

It’s early morning, and upon waking up I  discover that I have just received an award – my 10th in the past 10 days! YAHOOO! YIPEE! YAY!!

There is something about awards that makes me super excited. 🙂

But, after a few moments of cheering and dancing, I start to ponder.

They say if someone hates you, you must be doing something right!
So if you don’t have haters or have a lot of people who like you, you’re doing something wrong??

Oh, what am I supposed to do now?! Continue reading “Awards, Thank You and More…!”

Sunshine Blogger Award

Yesterday, I received a pleasant surprise from a wonderful fellow blogger, Flight & Scarlet. She had apparently nominated me (alongwith someother amazing bloggers) for this award called Sunshine Blogger Award.

sunshine-blogger-award1.jpg

I would like to very humbly accept the award and thank FlightScarlet for liking my writing and giving me this form of praise. It does indeed mean a lot to me.

She has put a few questions to me which i shall answer now – Continue reading “Sunshine Blogger Award”

Real Neat Blog Award

Georgia at Books And Other Miracles (BookLoverFob) has very kindly nominated me for the Real Neat Blog Award. And, though I am thrilled to accept the award, I must admit that I am at a loss to understand what this award is for.

So, I will simply take it at its literal meaning and assume that my blog is neat and as real as it can get. (Really?!)

She is a book lover and her book reviews are a must read. also, not to mention her giving me this very unusual award.  Thank you so much, Georgia! Continue reading “Real Neat Blog Award”

Liebster Award – My 3rd One

I have been very blessed to be surrounded by some very inspiring, encouraging and kind group of bloggers that I have recently met and interacted with.

They have been kind with their praise for my writing, and their own writing has been nothing short of outstanding and inspiring.
Reading other articles where they dare to share slices of their lives, let us into their private world without inhibition and share their innermost thoughts has taught me a lot. It has not only improved my writing but also made me a better person.

And, that is why these awards are important – to recognize their contribution to blogosphere, and also to show them that you care.

I have been nominated again, for the Liebster Award, this time by Thia, an amazing young blogger (Do visit her blog Thia’s Tale) who writes about Love, Life and Fashion. Her article about “How to Live Alone” is a must read.
Liebster-Award-Discover-New-BlogsI do not know how deserving I am of this Award, but if she thinks of me worthy enough I must be doing something right! It has certainly encouraged me to write more and made me strive to become better and better, as a responsibility to my readers.
Thank you, Thia for this award. I shall try to be better and better with each post. 🙂

Now, to answer Thia’s questions –

  1. How would you describe your blog?
I wouldn’t describe it at all. Would prefer others to do so, and call it “interesting, enlightening, funny, informative, inspiring and a must read”. Although, it probably isn’t any of those things!
  2. When and why did you start blogging?
Started blogging in November 2015, which is just about less than a month, when I write this post.
I started blogging because I wanted the practice and also to develop a bank of stories and samples for potential publishers/clients etc. Ultimately, would want to become a travel writer.
  3. What inspires you?
Life, itself. Watching people, nature, hearing or reading other people’s stories and real life incidents. Although, have to admit that the daily prompts help a lot in triggering off ideas and thoughts.
  4. How do you get over a writer’s block?
I read a lot – articles, magazines, other people’s blogs, could be anything related to fiction, non-fiction etc; or even informative articles about art of writing and blogging.
Apart from this, watching a movie or while taking a walk, helps get over that block and soon some or the other idea comes to mind.
  5. Of all your posts, which is your favourite?
It changes every week, as per audience feedback. Currently, World War III : The Golf Cart, Ant Attack and the Mud Path,   Where Art Thou? and 7 Essentials for Travelling are my favourites.

My Awardees are –

I would be thrilled were they to accept this award. I have enjoyed reading their blogs and their writing is fresh and innovative.
Please do visit their blogs. Like me, you may discover something new and interesting.

My Questions –

  1. What references or resources do you use to improve your writing?
  2. What made you start blogging, as against just maintaining a private journal/diary.
  3. Which is your favourite book and why?
  4. What is most cherished childhood memory?
  5. Who or what has been the biggest influencing factor in your life?
  6. What do you aim to achieve from your blog?

Rules

  • Once you are nominated, make a post thanking and linking the person who nominated you.
  • Include the Liebster Award sticker in the post too.
  • Nominate 5 -10 other bloggers who you feel are worthy of this award. Let them know they have been nominated by commenting on one of their posts. You can also nominate the person who nominated you.
  • Lastly, COPY these rules in the post.

Congrats and All The Best to my Awardees!

Look forward to their responses and their future posts.

The Cyber Hug Awards!

Was absolutely thrilled to have been one of the first recipients of Cyber Hug Awards . Emily really knows how to flatter someone. She herself has been extremely encouraging and supportive. I do take a lot of liberties with her, dictating what she puts up on her blog and bickering with her for no reason. And she lets me get away with it every time. Since Emily has put no restrictions to whom you can or cannot nominate I shall certainly be sending her some hugs from me as well. 🙂

Rules –

  1. Anyone who’s human (and although Emily post mentioned accepting nominations of cats, I’ll prefer it not be so, simply because too many of them cat lovers are here:) )
  2. Submit a small paragraph on why they need a hug.
  3. Provide their email address (preferred) and their url. If you know a very special human being who could do with a hug from you, nominate them to show you care by sending your submission via email (justconsiderit@gmail.com), or if they’re a blogger, post so they can see it. Please note if no email is supplied, they will be notified by post, and a link will be provided in order for them to collect their prize.
  4. Winners (that would be everyone that’s nominated) will get an Official Cyberhug Award Certificate (see above) through email. Display it or the Official Seal on your website (impress your friends!), or possibly even print it out if you’re really lonely.
  5. Successful Nominees will be eligible to enter the draw to win a truly special set of 3 Cyberhug Gift Certificates (see above) for Free Hugs (how good is that?!). Priority will be given to those who have either gone above and beyond to help people out, are amazing, or need more than one hug.
  6. The Draw shall be announced each week on a day of my choosing (depending if I get out of bed or not), or another day or just when the mood takes me.
  7. Emails regarding the official nomination and certificates would be handled by Emily. It is her website and all posts should link back to the original and Official Cyber Hug Awards. This one I have added from my side. No reason at all. Just because Emily had initiated this and I knew I could get away with it yet again.

The Cyberhug Awards. Changing the World One Hug at a Time.

Disclaimer – Cyberhugs can only be delivered through cyberspace so no actual hugs shall be entered into with the aforementioned nominees. Cyberhugs can be continued around cyberspace in perpetuity, so pass them as much as possible. The contract created between the huger and the hugee may continue into perpetuity as long as the aforementioned Cyber Gift Certificates are activated whenever the hugee wishes. Remember, you are a special human being.

My Awardees

The Cyberhug Award

Congrats, you both! Thank you for being such great people and bloggers.

Both Emily and Sandra have had major challenges health-wise but have overcome them and have emerged stronger and better. They are such a positive influence and absolutely wonderful to interact with. Emily will surprise you with her profound thinking and Sandra will make you laugh non-stop. Just visit their blogs and you shall be hooked on forever.

And, while you are at it, please share some love and hugs. Everyone needs it once in a while.

Changing the World One Hug at a Time

P.S – Emily , would you please send an official certificate to Sandra, on my behalf. Shall send you her email address shortly. Thanks 🙂

Blogger Recognition Award!

I have been a part of Blogosphere for about 10 days now… and have read and interacted with other blogs and written some posts which have been well appreciated by my readers.

While I am glad that I am able to write something worth their while, I am more honored that they stopped by and took time to read and like what I wrote and am thrilled to have received all the positive comments. It makes me content to know that it made some people laugh and gave inspiration to others for their own post. But all this while, I was just being myself – Butting in on every conversation, jumping in and giving my opinion everywhere and even forcing others to do my bidding! For evidence about the last one, read comment thread here – The Rat and the Carpet Snake – The Classic Children’s Tale .

That’s the whole purpose of being here: to be able to meet and interact new people, know about and learn from them. This has already been happening in the past 10 days – me getting inspired by and emulating others, that is. (Didn’t know I was giving inspiration to others’ too!) And, in the middle of all this, people like Anand (of blabberwockying!) who himself happens to be an amazing blogger and human being, goes ahead and awards me with the Blogger Recognition Award. (See post here – The Blogger Recognition Award Round Six!) To receive this from someone who has such an impactful and positive presence, is indeed inspiring. I must be doing something right, afterall! 🙂

I usually maintain that I am from outer space, but this really did catapult me there. 🙂 Thanks Anand. I humbly accept the award and promise to keep up with whatever I have been doing.

Rules (as usual have gone ahead and put my stamp on this too)

  1. Select 15 other blogs you want to give the award to. (I would like to give to those who I think have impacted me, so may be less than the stipulated number. This is not to say others are less deserving, just that I haven’t discovered them yet)
  2. You cannot nominate yourself or the person who has nominated you. (Ok, but I would still like to give a Special Acknowledgement to Anand for the reasons mentioned above)
  3. Write a post to show your award.
  4. Give a brief story of how your blog started.
  5. Give a piece of advice or two to new bloggers.
  6. Thank whoever nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
  7. Attach the award badge to the post (right click and save, then upload.)
  8. Comment on each blog and let them know you have nominated them
  9. Provide a link to the original post on Edge of the Night (I would have preferred to link to my own blog but can’t for fear of being labelled a rebel. Besides I am stickler for rules. Darn!)

 My Story

I always had a keen interest in reading and writing. But somehow, over the years, lost touch with writing. Suffering from a quarter-life crisis and ample time on my hands led me to write again. I did not know how much of it would work out but Blogging U. courses have been a huge help and source of guidance. So thank you @michelleweber  and @cherilucas and all others at Blogging U. You do come up with great content and assignments.

Advice to new bloggers

Really, I am actually doing this. :O Ok, i would just say one thing – read a lot and write just as much. It’s good learning and practice respectively.

(And read my blog. You may comment too occasionally. Infact you can click on other links and posts and browse around. And follow my blog. And did, I say, read and comment. And Follow, you must follow! Share… Post on facebook. Send email to your friends and family. Ask them to also follow and read.. and comment… and like and share …ok.. ok. I know, you get the drift)

My Awardees

  2. Starting the Climb A 19 year old who already knows what she wants. Who wouldn’t want to have that clarity and purpose in life. At 19, all I wanted was a boyfriend! Read my favourite post of hers here – New Beginnings
  3. Sass and Sauce With a title like that, it is impossible to resist reading every post of hers. And every post is as sassy and saucy, as the title promises. Read these if you don’t believe me – The Perils of Blogging.

My Second Liebster Award!

So, I’ve received another Leibster Award (this time from Emily at JustConsiderIt, love and hugs to her!)

It thrilled me to bits to know that my writing is being liked and appreciated.  🙂 Thanks so much , all you guys.

Here’s my Thank you speech. (Please read at your own risk!) Continue reading “My Second Liebster Award!”

Liebster Award – Answers to Anand’s Questionnaire

After I was nominated for the Liebster Award by an awesome fellow blogger (Thanks, blabberwockying!) I was floating on cloud nine and unfortunately no mode of travel was available to bring me back down. So, it took me some time to come back to Earth and finally attempt the questions that he had put to me. Liebster-Award-Discover-New-Blogs

Here they are –

  1. What inspires you? Could be anything – an image, a quote, a conversation with a stranger. Although I need some real inspiration to finally get on to that cross-trainer.
  2. How do you aim to inspire others? Through my writing. Hope to reach a stage where people read my article and ponder over it for a few minutes before moving on to the next thing. Maybe, they could decide to implement some change in their life – smile more, stop to savour each moment more.
  3. What do you most admire in a leader? The ability to understand his group/team and empathize with them. A desire to genuinely understand people, help solve their problems and be invested in them. Don’t have many of them left now, though
  4. What gives you meaning in your work? The ability to reach out to others through words – it could be to make them laugh, inspire them to take a long due difficult decision or even force them to step back and savour each moment of life.
  5. What personality trait has been the most enduring and representative of you? Would be my talkative nature. Just can’t shut up… even when categorically told to do so.
  6. What genre of movie do you like best, and how has it evolved over your adult life? Romance. I’m a hopeless romantic at heart. It has made me think there is good in the world, you just have to have the eyes for it. And nothing can not be won over with love and understanding.
  7. Who is your hero? Here, I need to be cliched and say “Dad”. As it is no man can live up to the standards that I have set in my mind, by observing him and how he treates me and my mom. He truly is a real hero, in my eyes.
  8. Where do you feel most at peace? In my sleep 🙂
  9. What song makes you sing along out loud, and/or break into dance? Quite a few of them. I’m very fond of music and my playlist is quite long. Some favorites are Din Pareshan Hain, Last Christmas, Diwana Hua Badal … this space would fall short. Maybe, i’ll keep this for another post. 😉
  10. What do you want people to remember most about you after meeting you for the first time? My smile, but fat chance of that happening since it is difficult to see beyond my rabbit teeth.
  11. What are you most proud of? At present, it happens to be my blog which incidentally, is also the the only thing on my mind these days.

Just received a Liebster Award!

Liebster-Award-Discover-New-Blogs

Thrilled to receive this from two of my fellow bloggers. Especially since it is awarded only to new bloggers whose work is interesting and worthy of being shared. It may not mean much in the real world, but this is testimony to the fact that my writing is being noticed and appreciated.  Since I am less than a week into blogging, this means a lot.

So Thank You for your encouragement, Anand and Sebastian.

You can visit their blogs at blabberwockying! and Scribbling Parrot.

Anand has given me a long list of questions that took me quite some time to ponder over and come with answers. But, finally here they are –

  • What is your criteria for an “ideal write-up/article”?

Look forward to all the interesting answers. 🙂
