Story Continuation Challenge Prompt 8

Last week’s challenge was interesting, wasn’t it?

I enjoyed it a lot, especially the contradiction in the tone of the words and the actual action happening in the scene.

I liked Kay’s story a lot. Wicked, it was! Lisa had me begging for more and Mandi’s story on ‘Renewing My License‘ was interesting. If you haven’t read them, head over now. 🙂
But the best one, that got the maximum likes too was Sonali’s crime revenge thriller. The Delhi summer heat is scorching and reading all these amazing stories is a welcome respite. Thanks so much participating in the challenge.

My story is  –

The new morning brought with it new hope. Not for him, though.
With shaky legs and wet cheeks, he stood under the sign that announced City Crematorium.
Yesterday, in his possession had been the lifeless body of his 4-year old. Today, it would be grey dust in an earthen pot.

Go on, spin forth your magic yet again.  I look forward to reading your stories.

  1. The new morning brought with it new hope. By the time the eventual comfort of night would come, the evil visitors would have forced the mere humans back into captivity. The familiar cries of the night would, once again, discourage any hopes and dreams they had of ruling the earth ever again.

  2. Thanks so much for the mention. Yours this week has me crying…
Here’s my take on this one:

The new morning brought with it new hope. The crisp air and the sunrise held promise of a day worthy of living life well. And then, one split second in time, changes everything you’ve ever known as truth.

  3. I think I missed the last prompt. Here’s mine for this week –

The new morning brought with it new hope,
I won’t get late to office today – No way, Nope.
The alarm rang loud and shrill – beep beep beep beep,
Tomorrow I’ll be on time, I said, and went back to sleep 😦

Btw, this really happened today Piyusha -Well tomorrow’s another day!

  4. The new morning brought with it new hope.
The dark clouds gathering in the distance were the first thing she noticed when she stepped out of her mud hut and felt the hard, parched earth beneath her feet. She dared to hope that they heralded relief from death and the hell that they endured everyday.

  5. Thank you so much for the mention. I’m glad people liked my story, even though it turned out pretty dark😅

Anyway, here is this week’s story

The new morning brought with it new hope, the sun shining bright in the sky and birds chirping cheerfully. She smiled, stealing a glance at the wedding dress that hung on the door.
A scant 3 hours later, the same white dress lay spattered with blood, the body of the young woman almost unrecognisable.
The drunk driver drove on without a backwards glance.
